McLoud approves election resolution

McLoud City Council members during their most recent meeting adopted a resolution for the notice of election this year.

City Manager Cody Roe said Wards 1 and 2 will be up for election this year. He explained that Mayor Ralph Snider is currently in Ward 1 and Becky Carpenter holds the Ward 2 Council seat.

The filing period for the election is from 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. If needed, the non-partisan general election will be held on April 4, 2023.

The Council members also approved by a 5-0 vote a 120-day moratorium on any and all zoning changes, Roe stated.

Council members were informed that engineering plans on the I-40 sewer corridor are around 60-65 percent complete.

They authorized Councilman Daniel McClure, Jr., to see if there is sufficient interest to create a McLoud Wildlife Commission and a McLoud Parks Commission.

They took no action on the possibility of a charter and the Council tabled action on the possibility of a potential Ethics policy, Roe said.

Roe reported that Council members also took no action on possibly authorizing McClure and/or a committee to hold public input sessions concerning ARPA funding and service on McLoud committees.

They gave approval to the Worker’s Compensation Escrow from 2019-2020 by resolution, he said.
