Guilty on lewd acts charge

A Lincoln County jury has found a Cushing man innocent of two charges and guilty of one and recommended his punishment in the case.

Joseph Lee Rolan, 43, two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 after former conviction of two or more felonies.

The jury convicted him on the third charge of using video equipment manner. The jury has recommended he serve 13 years in prison.

Rolan waived a presentence investigation.

District Judge John Canavan, who presided over the trial, scheduled 9 a.m. Feb. 16.

Assistant District Attorney Rachel Thompson prosecuted the case and Royce Hobbs was the attorney for Rolan.

Roland was charged in Lincoln County District Court on June 8, 2022 with the two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 after former conviction of two or more felonies.

The third count, the one he was convicted of, was filed on Feb. 17, 2023, according to court records.

Supplemental information filed in the case shows that Roland was convicted in Payne County District Court on Feb. 22, 2019 of Count 1, Assault and Battery on a police officer and Count 2, attempting to elude.

On Feb. 22, 2019, he was also convicted in Payne County District Court of two counts of burglary of an automobile.
