What is the Stroud Arts Escape Room?

This is the Fifty-Eighth article in a permanent column for Stroud Arts that appears in the Stroud American. The mission of these articles is to inform, educate and inspire you, the reader, to Make Art Happen in your life and the life of our community.

An Escape Room is a new way to experience immersive storytelling entertainment in a Real Life Adventure Game that combines social activity, for you and your team, with interactive adventure and challenging puzzles in an entertaining, themed room storyline that can feel like a Hollywood Action/ Mystery Blockbuster as you attempt to Escape!

To be successful in an Escape Room, you should take a look around the room and observe the furniture, wall furnishings, floor coverings, lighting…in short, anything and everything in the room could be important!

A clue could be hidden anywhere so look underneath the rug or sift through books on shelves, you might even look under the shelves!

Don’t forget to look behind the paintings on the wall.

Everywhere you look is a potential clue to get out of the escape room but hurry, as the clock starts ticking the moment you enter the escape room!

Beating the countdown clock requires teamwork. You must communicate your findings with your teammates as anything you find could solve a piece of the puzzle that they have found.

If you do not communicate and share information with each other, your experience could lead to frustration for your team within the game and after you leave.

Escape Rooms are perfect for family outings, corporate team-building or having fun with friends. You have an opportunity to draw closer together through the shared activity, while learning to appreciate and compensate for each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

As the saying goes, stress doesn’t build character, it reveals it.

In addition to teamwork, you need speed, creativity and patience during this amazing experience as you work together to discover clues, crack puzzles, interpret riddles and ultimately, put the many and varied pieces of the puzzle together to accomplish your ultimate goal of escaping the room.

Even if you don’t beat the timer, the whole group will have a blast and make memories that you will share for years to come.

The dates for the Stroud Arts Escape Room are October 27,28, 29 and 30.

Rooms will be booked in one-hour intervals with time between each scheduled team to allow sanitizing of the room.

Rooms can be reserved for 12 p.m. through 9 p.m., with the last team beginning at 9 p.m.

All teams must preregister as there are no walkup participants allowed.

Teams will consist of up to six people and all team participants are selected by the registrant. Only the registered team and the Escape Room Moderator will be in the Escape Room space at the same time.

The Moderator will wear a mask at all times. The registered team may take their masks off during the event.

Registration is online at Stroud Arts Facebook Escape Room event or by phone at 405- 240-1025 and the fee is $10 per person for the One Hour Event. Your time slot is not secure until the entry fee has been paid.
