Wellston broke into the win column in a big way Friday, going off for 38 points in the second quarter and whacking Foyil, 64-14.
The Tigers are now 1-3 for the season.
McKoy Coulson ran 46 yards for a touchdown and caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Kage Danker to stake the Tigers to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter.
Then it would have been “Katy, bar the door,” except Katy would have been far too slow to impede the Tigers in the second period.
A dozen minutes and seven touchdowns later, Wellston had a 50-14 lead.
Two Coulson touchdowns in the third period were all it took to end the game under the 45-point rule.
Wellston’s stat line was impressive.
Danker threw for three touchdowns and 151 yards on nine completions; Coulson ran 90 yards for three scores, caught the 46-yard touchdown pass and ran back an interception and kickoff for touchdowns, Joey Brown ran for 89 yards and a touchdown.
The Tigers are back in action Friday, hosting Drumright.
