Billy Ray Douglas was the last surviving sibling of 10 born March 14, 1934 in Okemah, Okla., to Jess and Florena (Gann) Douglas. He passed away November 20, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 87.
Billy retired from the oil field after several years and worked as the Chandler High School Janitor for the next 12 years. He was the most hardworking, honorable and kind man his entire life. Billy had a stubborn streak and a philosophy that things would be his way or no way at all. If you knew Billy, you knew he was always gardening, where he spent most of his days. Selling produce to the community of Chandler was the highlight of his life. He also enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren as he was a great family man.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Florena Douglas; first wife, Norma (Williams) Douglas; daughter, Sandra Douglas; granddaughter, Erica Helm; and his nine siblings. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Betty (McNeill) Douglas of the home; daughters, Cheryl Douglas, Connie Hiddleston; seven grandchildren, Emily, Ryann, Caitlin, Taylor, Dailyn, Erin, Kylie; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Hope, Korbin, Mila and one more on the way, Sylvie; along with other special family and many friends.
