Showtime at the county fair

Dozens of participants took part in this years 2026 Lincoln County Fall Fair.

Folks from all over showed pigs, goats, cows and sheep, among other events throughout the week. According to organizers, this year’s fair attracted one of the largest number of poultry and rabbits in recent years with about 59 chickens. There were so many entries, that they couldn’t fit inside the poultry barn.

Things kicked off on Thursday evening with the annual Farmhand Olympics. Students from Meeker and Wellston showed up to compete in Olympic-style games with a farm twist. They had to rope a stationary target, pick up horseshoes, toss a cow tongue and compete in a sack race. The top scoring teams then competed in one final relay for the grand prize.

The fair also brought in food trucks, live music, a petting zoo, mechanical bull, pony rides and inflatables for the kids to enjoy.

Other events included turtle races, gunny sack races, a three-legged race and water balloon toss, along with a children’s pedal tractor pull and tractor driving contest.
