Updates from Meeker Town Hall

1. Update on Glenn Crest Park

A. Finally! The Grand Opening of Glenn Crest Park with the official Ribbon Cutting was accomplished with the Chamber of Commerce, Sponsors, Employees & Town Residents. Reverend Joe Jones said a prayer to rededicate the park & Veteran Billy Walker conducted the flag raising on the new flagpole illuminated by a solar powered night light. Walker is also a newly elected Town Trustee. Cake, ice cream, and pop was enjoyed by all. Special Thanks goes to Dick Irwin and Michelle Bronson for playing music on the Calliope machine.

Patriotic music was played for the raising of the flag & throughout the event.

2. Update on Homestead Park

A. Engineering is going on at the Park now.

B. Additions to this Park will be a new water line with a frostfree hydrant, new swings, new lighting & new playground equipment.

C. Meetings & planning are going on now.

3. Update on Quapaw 15 Project

A. Terracon has completed two weeks of drilling for more soil samples.

B. Lincoln County Conservation has mowed the Lake Dam for us.

This will allow the dozers to operate & build pads.

C. The Town has mowed the Lake Property once this year.

D. Planning for a new roof on the Lake pavilion is being discussed. Money is in the budget for a few of these yearend repairs.

4. Update on Annual Fireman’s B.B.Q.

A. The annual Fireman’s B.B.Q. is back on and scheduled for May 6th, 7th & 8th.

This years’ menu will be B.B.Q. ribs, pulled pork sandwich, hot dogs, hot links & possibly a baked potato with all the goodies on it.

B. Please support this event because it helps fund different needs that the Dept. has throughout the year.

C. Also, we Thank the Auxiliary for all they do all year round.

5. Update on City wide Cleanup

A. City Wide Cleanup will be a 2-day event scheduled for May 29th & 30th. The roll off dumpster will be at the H.S. gym parking lot just like last year. Please bring a Meeker Utility bill & I.D. to dump.

6. Update for Chamber of Commerce

A. Please support the Annual Golf Tournament held at the Chandler Golf course. Check with Josh at BancFirst for details.

B. The City-wide garage sale is Saturday, May 8th. Check with Laverne Babinchak at BancFirst for your map and locations.
