Meeker rehires superintendent

Meeker Board of Education members during their most recent meeting offered the superintendent a new contract and also accepted the retirement of one and the resignation of another.

Following an executive session, the board members returned to open meeting and voted to rehire School Supt. Jeff Pruitt for the 2025-2026 school year.

Pruitt is currently serving his 10th year as Meeker school superintendent.

They also approved the retirement for John Bolander, high school and middle school counselor. Pruitt said Bolander will retire at the end of the current school year.

Board members also approved the resignation of Tabitha Hill, high school and middle school paraprofessional.

The board voted to approve renewing the OSDH grant with Lincoln County Partnership for Child Well Being for 2024-2025.

In his report to the board members, High School Principal Brad Buxton told them that lots of basketball is going on at this time. He said enrollment is 247 students.

Middle School Principal Matt Jones advised board members the Stroud/ Meeker basketball tournament is Jan. 2731 with Parent/Teacher conferences Feb. 13. He said enrollment is 205 students.

Elementary School Principal Sarah Flowers reported that Friday, Jan. 31, is the 100th day of school. She said enrollment is 325 students.

Flowers noted that, “We are planning a STEM/Literacy Family Night during Read Across America Week in March.” She added, “I will share reading growth from beginning of the year at the February meeting. We are wrapping up those assessments and are very excited about what we are seeing so far.”
