Singer, songwriter and comedian Danny Miller of Meeker will perform at Prairie Pointe outside under the portico this Thursday at 4:00 PM. It’s supposed to be a beautiful warm day and we look forward to seeing Danny again. He always lifts our spirits and gives us a giggle.
Prairie Pointe residents couldn’t get out to attend the Stroud Christmas Parade last Saturday. In the past, Jim has driven a few of them in his 1957 Chevy in the parade. So we watched from the sidewalk in our masks which evidently provided some entertainment for four maskless young men who walked by faking a cough. Once they passed us, they broke out in laughter. Hey guys, I hope the last laugh is not on you.
After all the tragedies this small community has suffered thanks to COVID, it baffles me why people who would give you the shirt off their back and come to your aid in the middle of the night won’t wear a simple mask to help curb the spread of this deadly virus. Our healthcare workers are begging everyone to wear a mask, maintain a social distance and wash our hands. It’s no laughing matter. Please just do it.
Sharla Drake (daughter of resident Jo Sperry) brought by several sacks of books. She even organized them by author and topic. We are offering them to residents with their afternoon snack and beverage. Thanks Sharla!
We also scored a heavy duty malt machine so we can make fountain shakes and malts now.
JoAnn Simon, daughter-in-law of resident Marcy Simon, and all her grandkids (Marcy’s great grands) dropped by Friday evening and sang carols outside. What a treat! It was no easy feat for JoAnn who had worked with them all week on the songs, dressed and transported seven little cowboys and cowgirls from Bristow to Stroud. We have some really lovely residents at Prairie Pointe and we have the best families too! That has been the #1 perk of my time spent here—all the people, including our great staff, who I probably would have never met but for this “little big house” on the prairie.
