New books at Chandler Library

New books have been added to the circulation at the Chandler Public Library, 1021 S. Manvel Ave. A new children’s book available is from Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man adventures called “Grime and Punishment.” For young adults is Christopher Paolini’s new book “To Sleep in a Sea of Stars.

James Darrell Poteet Jr., longtime Agra/Tryon resident, was born to James Sr. and Joanne (Walker) Poteet on July 18, 1954, in Cushing, Okla. He died Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the age of 66 years.

Lincoln County commissioner meeting

Lincoln County Commissioners this week adopted two resolutions and tabled another, and authorized the sheriff to apply for a grant and approved and signed a performance grant.

Meeting of Auxiliary

The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary met on September 14th. This was the first regular monthly meeting held since the pandemic started. Those attending the Legion meeting were Commander Michael Horwath, Steve Bivin, Brandon Quinn and David Carroll.

Angel Tree provides Christmas assistance

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program helps families with children, ages 0 to 12, and senior citizens, ages 62 and greater, by providing Christmas assistance.

Chandler events announced

Following is a list of upcoming events in and around the Chandler community. The Chandler Lions Club meets at 12 p.m., each Thursday at First Christian Church, 614 Manvel. The Chandler Rotary Club meets 12 p.m., each Friday at Destinations.

Prague plans OPAT Play Day

There will be an Oklahoma Parents as Teachers Play Day 10-11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 25, at the Prague Upper Elementary School. “Keeping Germs Away” will be presented while children can take part in activities, crafts and games. Snacks will be served.

Ronald and Sheila Slayton will have a private family celebration in recognition of their 50 th wedding anniversary. Sheila Murray and Ronald Slayton were united in marriage on September 25, 1970, at Church of Christ in Chandler. Ron worked for National American Insurance Co.
