Updates from Meeker Town Hall

Meeker Lake meetings continue with engineers, contractors, and Town of Meeker town administrator. There was discussion about the approximate eight and a half foot to ten foot of dirt to be placed on top of the dam and about how far east on the back side of the dam the dirt would go.

Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Stroud Police were called to the Cozumel Mexican Restaurant Friday. There was a burrito burglary in progress. Upon arriving at the scene, officers apprehended a four- legged suspect who answers to the name of Buddy.

Absentee ballots for bond elections

Voters in Pottawatomie County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for the June 30th, Primary 2020, North Rock Creek I-010 and Dale I-2 Board of Education Elections should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said today.

1952, Redux

When I was a wee little nipper, my parents bought a new Philco refrigerator so they could mix my formula and keep it cold. This was back in a time when having a refrigerator was still a pretty big deal for people who had grown up in the country, so I have no doubt it was cause for celebration.

Legislative session is a wrap

The 57th Legislature ended its final session on May 22, recessing until sine die becomes official at 5 p.m. May 29. This was an extraordinary session in many ways. The COVID-19 pandemic turned what should have been a great budget year into a deficit nearly overnight.

Senate side: Legislative update

The 2nd Session of the 57th Legislature has adjourned Sine Die. It was one for the books as Oklahoma and our country was shut down by the health pandemic. Just as most businesses did, we had to shut down and telework to protect our staff.
