The four days before Tuesday’s election, we got 20 political mailers at our house. All were 6 inches by 11 inches and printed on card stock. We tossed probably another 50, maybe upwards of 75, before I started keeping them to count. I’ll bet you got a bunch, too.

Tomorrow, Pat and I will celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were married on July 1, 1978 at St. Gregory’s Chapel. I’m not sure what we are going to do Friday. Probably work at least some if not most of it.

Dale’s Board of Education this week filled several teaching positions for the 2022-2023 school year and also hired two paraprofessionals for 2022-2023. The board hired Amber Clark as a Special Education instructor.

My car gave a heart dropping jolt as we hit the tightest part of the highway’s curve. The sun was calmly going down and yet the empty pavement mercilessly tossed us into the air by means of one of its many hidden potholes.

My wife Pat had been discussing recently that she wanted more color in the front flower bed. She had some yellow pansies in it, but they weren’t showing up like she wanted. She had thought about going to get some new flowers the weekend before last.

I was mowing Saturday and was close to being finished when the mower screeched and stopped like I’d hit a wall. A quick inspection showed that I had sucked up a piece of electric fence wire.

I was watering the garden Monday evening and mentally encouraging the tomatoes to go ahead and get ripe as quickly as possible. We have 10 plants and I have been checking them three or four times a day, looking forward to the first tomato of the summer.
