Chandler cheer won the Class 3A regional in Stroud Saturday and will head to the state competition next Saturday at Union High School.

Lions’ comeback falls short

Chandler put on a strong second-half comeback Friday, but fell 30-21 to Class 4A Poteau. Poteau, ranked No. 6 in 4A this week by MaxPreps, bolted to a 30-7 lead, but Chandler dominated the second half and had the chance to cut the lead to a field goal or less in the final three minutes.

Davenport clips Yale in home opener

The Davenport Bulldogs grabbed their first win of the football season last Friday night limiting Yale to one touchdown while scoring four times themselves. They defeated Yale 26-6 in Davenport’s home opener.

Meeker parade

Stroud got on the winning track Friday, beating Okemah 38-22 in the final non-district game. The Tigers were up 38-0 after three quarters. “Our kids played hard and really took care of the football, which is always a good thing for us” said Stroud head coach Josh Presley.
