A local farmer in Carney is working to bring back wheat to the area.Matt Dornan recently competed in the National Wheat Yield Contests, winning second place on the percentage over county yield, which was 10.45 bushels an acre, and first place in quality.

ThePragueSchoolBoard approved several employment changes at its regular meeting on March 9, including the hiring of a new superintendent.James Payne received a unanimous vote from the Board, becoming the superintendent of Prague Public Schools for the 2026-2027 school year.

Stroud Utility Authority to continue talks with sober living home

The Stroud Utilities Authority voted to continue negotiations with a sober living facility about the possible use of the Stroud Wilderness Center at its regular meeting on March 12.

A new school record

The Chandler High School girls pole vault record was 10 feet even, set by Kallie Jo Petrie in 2000, the first year Oklahoma girls could compete in the sport.But on Friday, there was freshman Adelaide Furtado, looking to break it at the Hennessey track meet.Her first try - scratch.

Meeker’s Bulldogs unleashed some serious offense last week, winning five games by a cumulative score of 90-3.That put them at 6-0 for the season, pending a three-game trip to Southeastern Oklahoma this week and a pair of games at Cleveland on Saturday.
