Sandra Lou Johnson, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023. She was 81 years old. Sandra was born on January 13, 1942 in Chandler, OK to Harold and Clara Eyestone. Sandra attended Victor, a tworoom country school northeast of Chandler, completing eight grades in seven years.

Carl Dwight Thompson was born at Agra, Oklahoma on October 11, 1944 to the Alva & Ellen ( Wittman) Thompson. He passed from this life in Drumright on January 26, 2023 at the age of 78 years, 3 months, & 15 days. His remains will be buried in the Parkland Cemetery at a later date.

Joy Elizabeth Hudson Hart, of Okesa, Oklahoma was born in Atlantic Field, Osage County, Oklahoma, on April 9th, 1935 to Quincy and Doshia Hoopes (Clark). Joy leapt into the arms of Jesus on the morning of February 17, 2023. She passed peacefully with her husband Merton and family by her side.

Chandler Public Schools announced that their February Lions of the Month are Claire Irby and Paige Navarro. Claire is the daughter of Joseph and Tracy Irby. She maintains a 4.0 GPA while taking advanced English courses.

Congratulations to county voters

It was encouraging to see voters throughout Lincoln County show up last week and approve two propositions. Voters overwhelmingly gave a thumbs up to renewal of the one percent county sales tax for another five years with 78.78 percent in favor of the proposition.

Town Talk volunteers and the American Legion Auxiliary will hold their second Italian luncheon on March 12th. Thank you to everyone who came and had lunch with us. It was a huge success so we are going to host it again. It will be from noon until 2:30 p.m.

Hunting and fishing has changed so much since I was a kid. Of course that’s been considerably over 60 years. That can probably be attributed to all the various rules and regulations put in place by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation over a period of time.

Wellston woman found dead in park

Abody found in Lake Thurderbird Park east of Norman last week has been identified as that of a Wellston woman, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has said. The OSBI identified the woman as Charissia Dawn Bell, 29. The OSBI reportedly is investigating it as a suspicious death.

Commissioners to file suit

Lincoln County commissioners this week, following an executive session, voted to pursue filing a lawsuit against Tiger Tanks Truck LLC. District 3 County Commissioner Lee Doolen, who also is commission chairman, said the lawsuit deals with an accident and motorgrader on SH 66.
