District slow pitch

Stroud, Dale and North Rock Creek won district slow pitch championships last week and moved into the regional tournaments. If they win or finish second in their regionals, they will advance to state. The 18-4 Lady Tigers play Washington at Washington at 1 p.m. Thursday in their Class 4A regional.

Meeker’s Babek chosen for Native All-State

A Meeker High School softball player has been selected for the Oklahoma Native All State Girls Softball Team. Kaycee Babek, a senior, will play at the Oklahoma Native All State Association game in June at Okmulgee.

David Anthony Russell

David “Snapper” Anthony Russell was born November 9, 1956, in Houston, Texas. He died Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the age of 64 years. Russell retired from the millwork and construction field and was a member of Church of Christ in Stroud. His parents Robert E. Russell Jr.

Marian Deans

Marian Deans was born July 6, 1927, in Oakland, Calif., and died Monday, April 19, 2021. She was 93 years old. Deans was a retired nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Elva Perkins, her brother Thomas Perkins and her son Lee Roy McNeill.

Donald Edward Harris

Donald Edward “Ed” Harris of Meeker was born December 4, 1937, in Meeker and died Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the age of 83 years. He attended Meeker Public Schools and retired from AT&T. He was a member of Aydelotte Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents Tom P.

Elva “Rip” Burrows

Elva “Rip” Burrows was born November 14, 1933, to Thomas Jefferson “Boss” Burrows and Zelma Gertrude (Warren) Burrows. Rip grew up in Pauls Valley and Oklahoma City with his siblings Tom, Claud, Roy, Ruby and Dorothy.

Gary Edward Miller

Gary “Gov” Edward Miller was born to Frank Edward and Nellie (Day) Miller on November 3, 1942, at their home in Chandler. He died Thursday, April 22, 2021, in Oklahoma City. Miller attended Chandler schools and served in the United State Air Force.

Isaac Wayne Moon

Isaac Wayne Moon was born October 15, 1993 at Claremore Indian Hospital, to Clayton Harney of Wellston, Okla., and the late Frances Moon, of Chandler, Okla.
