Etta Addeline Winkleman Castleberry was born December 13, 1928, in Castle, Okla. She died Monday, January 25, 2021, at the age of 92 years. The daughter of Benjamin Douty “Ben” and Amelia Bertha Martie Winkleman, she married Charles B. Castleberry in November 1944.

Patrice Smith Golliver of Agra was born November 25, 1951, in Cushing, Okla. She died Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the age of 69 years. Golliver, the daughter of Melvin and Vaunita Smith, married John Golliver on June 8, 1980.

A graveside funeral service will be held for Nina May (Fields) Haas at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the Wellston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston. Haas was born December 6, 1936, in Alabam, Ark.

Ralph Edwin Hall, known to everyone as Eddie, died peacefully in his sleep on February 2, 2021. He was born North of Jacktown, Okla., on December 21, 1930 to Samuel Ralph and Bessie Lou (Wilson) Hall. Eddie was rambunctious as a child and liked horses and fast cars more than school.

COVID deaths keep climbing

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has climbed to 55 in Pottawatomie County over the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports. The five additional deaths reported in the county include a female 65 or older, two males, 65 or older the OSDH said.

McLoud takes no action on TIF district

McLoud’s City Council during its most recent meeting took action to look at setting up a TIF district in the I-40 Corridor. Council members approved a legal services agreement and engagement letter with J. Brent Clark, P.C.

Charges for Stroud man

A Stroud resident faces a felony charge following his arrest in late January by Lincoln County deputies. Jerry Willard Ashcraft, Jr., 41, 616 6th Avenue in Stroud, who has several aliases, has been charged in Lincoln County District Court with larceny of automobile, aircraft or other motor vehicle.

Dale board rehires Wilkins, Widner

The Dale Board of Education this week renewed the contract of Acting School Supt. and Secondary Principal Ky Wilkins and Assistant Principal J.D. Widner. The board members also accepted the letter of retirement of Elementary Principal Bruce Throckmorton.

Lincoln County Commissioners

Lincoln County Commissioners this week approved an estimate of monthly spending for the new Purchase card system and established the number of cards to be used. They voted 3-0 to allow three cards and a spending limit of $5,000 each month per card.
