The Stroud Fire Department and a brigade of teen volunteers set out on Nov. 4 to collect non-perishable food items for their annual canned food drive. This year, they collected a total of 1,658 pounds of food and 31.8 pounds of non-food items, according to the Stroud Food Pantry.

Several people have inquired recently if I’ve been quail hunting yet this year. The season just opened last Saturday and my response has been the same to each one of them that I didn’t open the season and I’m not sure I am going to get to go this season since I have cancer.

Davenport jumped out and scored first but lost its bid for a spot in the playoffs as Coyle nipped the Bulldogs 36-30.The Bulldogs finished the season 4-6 overall and 1-4 in district.Head Coach Grant Powell noted his team fought the injury bug most of the year, “We had five 1-score games.
