McLoud to probe past expenditures

McLoud City Council members have voted authorizing Mayor Daniel McClure to create a Task Force to investigate unauthorized or unlawful expenditures.

Their action came during the Council’s most recent meeting.

City Manager Cody Roe said the mayor has appointed Councilmen Phil Solinger and Larry Dillion as the committee to investigate possible unauthorized or unlawful expenditures of the past administration.

The Council honored its longtime City Attorney Michael Warwick who is stepping down from the position. Roe said, “We presented him with a proclamation and an award for his many years of service.”

Roe noted Warwick advised the Council he wasn’t sure of how many years it was that he served as city attorney but it started somewhere in the mid-90s.

Council members open two sealed proposals for the city attorney position, Roe noted. One was from Ritchie, Rock and Atwood Attorneys at Law and the other from Mat Thomas.

They took no action on appointing a new city attorney, Roe explained, instead deciding they would call for a Special meeting to interview the applicants.

Council members, following a public hearing, approved rezoning of the real property at 5198 S. Pottawatomie Road in McLoud from A1, Agriculture, to R, Residential.

They also adopted an ordinance on the rezoning and lot split of that property and approved the emergency clause putting it into effect immediately.

Roe said no action was taken on another rezoning when no one showed up for it.

The Council tabled a resolution calling and holding an election in the City of McLoud for the purpose of granting a franchise to Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. for the installation, operation and maintenance of an electric distribution system and the selling of electricity for a term of 25 years, Roe said.

Roe said Council members formed a subcommittee to draft a proposed change to the ordinance dealing with temporary use of RVs within the city limits.
