Everyone remembers playing outside after school and during the summer. Whether that was their backyard, the school playground, or the neighborhood park, children young and old enjoy running in the sun or seeing who can swing the highest on the swing set. “When my veterinary clinic was downtown, I had a small grass area to the South,” Lincoln County Veterinary Dr. Deseree Brown said. “After school the kids would meet in this space to play football, roll down the small hill, and play ‘king of the rock.’ I would supply some snacks to the kids there. Some afternoons I would have 5-10 kids. They would beg for me to take them to Shawnee to play at the park. I wished that I could take them somewhere close and safe.”
