Gov. Stitt “Re-opens” Oklahoma. Starting on the 24th.
I hope this is a great thing but, please remember to social distance and wash your hands a lot.
If you do not feel comfortable with his call, stay at home a few more weeks.
It is better to be safe than sorry. Each phase will open more liberties for all to act upon. Please be safe.
The Hi-Line crew is sure tearing up our roads. We had to put gravel in pot holes on South Dawson.
That is wrong that they can come in and tear up our streets and roads like they do. I agree with progress and I know the wood poles with overhead wires do not last forever, but our Corporation Commissioner should make these companies compensate for their damages.
I know the trucking companies state that they pay big taxes, but it doesn’t trickle down to small towns. Cold patch was placed again in the smaller pot holes on South Dawson and in town.
This week included a Trustee Meeting, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Earth Day, Ramadan, rain, mud and more rain. I enjoyed smelling the smoke in the air and seeing all the nightly bon fires on Facebook.
I know after being on lockdown everybody is ready to get out and smell fresh air and see all the beautiful colors Spring time brings us.
I appreciate all the limb piles that I see on the side of the streets. The City wide cleanup will start Saturday, May 23, and will continue through Sunday, May 31st. The roll off dumpsters will be again this year at the Meeker High School City parking lot.
The PWA guys took delivery of their new Bob Cat 61” cut zero turn mower this week.
It is an identical twin to the one we bought last month. Having two alike will save us money, because blades, air filters, fuel filters, etc., are all the same.
The Police Department Body Cameras are to be here this Friday. Software, computer, 8 slot docking port, LCD Monitor and 8 Halo Cameras. Another great asset for our community.
Thanks OMAG for the $10,000 grant to help with the purchase. The town has completed many classes of instructions for us to qualify for the grant. Also, the town Administrator had to complete Supervisor classes for employees.
As you are out driving around, look what the growth and development group has placed at City Hall, Police Station, Shed Restaurant and the Rainbow Phillips 66 fuel stop. Thank you, Mayor Head and the Ladies for making the displays very colorful and pretty.
The Fire Department has been steady making their runs as usual. It is always a great feeling to know the Fire and Police Department take care of our safety.
Mark Valasquez the DEQ Director called and told me there are no DEQ violations. He also told me he had been tasked to contact and provide information to Lincoln County water and wastewater utilities concerning COVID-19.
He advised the town of Meeker to join Sooner Warn. Sooner Warn is a formalized system of utilities helping utilities with mutual aid during emergency situations. We are now in the process of joining the group. Several water line breaks or leaks were repaired this month.
Jody Vaughn PWA Clerk advised that she had received the annual update from UTS for our Smart water meter software. She is very happy with how fast the system works and reads meters.
