Carson Funk hit Casey Harelson for a 39-yard touchdown pass with 1:21 left to play, leading Davenport to a 58-50 win over Strother in a battle of unbeaten teams Friday night.
Campbell Miller intercepted a Strother pass with 48 ticks left in the game, clinching the victory for the Bulldogs.
Funk finished the game with four rushing touchdowns and two touchdown passes, while Harelson finished with three touchdown receptions.
The Bulldogs head to Yale Friday night for their final non-district tuneup.
Strother stung the Bulldogs in the first quarter, taking an 8-0 lead, but Davenport took a 14-8 following a 30-yard pass from Chance Acord to Harelson, who plowed over a Strother defender, late in the first quarter.
Funk ran for a score early in the second quarter and a 54-yard touchdown later in the period, but Strother matched the scores and cut the lead to 30-28 with 1:37 left before intermission.
A minute later, though, Davenport was back in the end zone when Harelson hauled is own tip of a 30-yard scoring pass from Chance Acord.
Cole Yancy ran 83 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, but Strother went on a scoring streak and took a 50-42 lead with 2:51 left in the game.
Funk ran 39 yards for a tying touchdown with 1:21 left, then Gage Keith recovered an onside kick to give the Bulldogs possession and set the state for the Funk-to-Harelson game-winner.
Defensively, Houston Buyford led the Bulldogs with 15 tackles, including two solos. Peyton Gaylord and Campbell Miller had 13 each. Jessie Weber had 10 and Cruz Hillan had nine.
After the Yale game, the Bulldogs are back home for their district opener against winless Foyil before heading to Depew, which is 3-1.
