Beginning today, there are three months remaining in 2020. As we know, this has been a most unusual year.
Most people I have visited with describe it as “crazy” and some have added they are ready for 2020 to be over. That’s been a theme of some of the conversations I’ve had with people.
Given all of that, I figured it might be a good time to review the resolutions I made for this year and assess where I am with them. Everything that has gone on this year with CO-VID-19 has impacted many people whether it be directly or indirectly.
These were what I hoped to do this year.
-More time with family. My wife Pat and I have spent more time together for sure. She hasn’t traveled nearly as much in her job as she would normally due to cancelations and changes in her schedule that can be attributed to the virus.
I haven’t covered some events, primarily sports, because of schools not being in session in the spring and seasons that were canceled.
So, yes, we have spent more time in and together.
-Being better organized. My wife calls me a “clutterer” (if there is such a word).
She says I like to keep too much old stuff. I agree to some extent. But, hey, I wouldn’t have found some old resolutions from 1981 if I had thrown them away.
There’s still a lot of work to be done to achieve this one.
-Be more willing to step out of my comfort zone and do things that my wife suggests that we can do socially together.
The virus has made an impact here because of everything that was canceled and travel restrictions that have been put in place and on things to do.
-Have a willingness to take on improvements around the house and the yard.
There were specific ones back years ago, but they are long past. Not a lot of progress, but I am still working on them.
-At the top of my resolutions for 2020 was once again to be the best granddad, best husband, best dad and dad-in-law, son-in-law possible and do whatever it takes to achieve all of that. This really is one that began before 2020 and continues through this year and hopefully beyond.
It’s really hard to assess this but I know I work on it every single day of my life.
I’m not sure how to measure that in the future because it’s really the other people in my life, along with the Good Lord, on how I do.
