Weston Miller, Kennedy Allen and Lexi Martzall have been named the October Lions of the Month by the Chandler Lions Club.Weston Miller is the son of Adam and Mary Miller. He currently has a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) and is ranked first in his class.

The Chandler School Board approved the 2026 Annual School Board Election Resolution at its regular meeting on Oct. 13.This was for Seat 1, which was up for the full term, according to Superintendent Scott Baade, who was Doug Bridge.

Thursday Oct 9th Gary and Johnnie Sue Bishop celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Gary was a graduate of Chandler High & OSU. He is one of three generations of angus cattle reserves in Lincoln County. Gary retired from the USDA after 40 years and 28 years in the army reserves as a LIC.

Above and to the right, students and volunteers take part in Sequoyah Day at Wellston Elementary School on Sep. 19. Several volunteers came to read books and give presentations. The day celebrated the Sequoyah Book Awards, which are handed out every year.

Alpha Iota Chapter meets at Chandler

The Alpha Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met Thursday, Sep. 18 at the Chandler High School.Rachel Karger, chapter president, called the meeting to order after members had served themselves from the snack buffet.
The Pride of Chandler Marching Band from Chandler High School competed at the Deer Creek Invitational Marching Festival on Sept. 20 at Deer Creek, performing its program “The Ballad of Georgia Graves.” The band placed 14th out of 18 bands in the preliminaries, just barely missing out on the finals. The band will next compete in the Blue and Gold Marching Classic in Holdenville on Sept. 27, along with The Spirit of Stroud marching band and the McLoud high school marching band. Stroud’s elementary cross country team had its annual end-of-the-season glow run last week. The runners get glow sticks and glow items to wear, run a short 1-mile course around campus and finish with ice cream sundaes. Below is Cayenne Martin. Birthday

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about our grandson Liam’s birthday who was turning 7. It had a special significance this year in light of his mother, our daughter Meghan, wouldn’t be there to share it with him.Many of you are aware, I know, that she passed away Aug. 18 from a bout with brain cancer.
