The paved road northwest from Wellston winds through trees and over creeks before reaching Fallis, where aging houses and former railroad beds offer only hints of what the town once was.For a community of about two dozen people, the road is surprisingly smooth.

Stroud, Chandler fireworks keep on despite thunderstorms

Despite a storm rolling through the area on Saturday evening, both Stroud and Chandler managed to get their firework displays off the ground, albeit a bit early.The City of Chandler canceled its grand opening of McClanahan Park, which was scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Puppy mill owner gets reduced bond

A man facing over 400 felony counts of cruelty to animals had his bond reduced, according to court documents.In a hearing at the Lincoln County Courthouse on June 30, a new bond of $5,000 was set for Jerry Hine, 84.

Board takes no action on Meeker police chief, officer

EMILY KALKA Editor The Meeker Town Board took no action at a special meeting on June 30 to discuss the possible action over Police Chief Trent Norton and Ofc. Kyle Crow.The meeting was called on June 25. The Board immediately went into executive session after opening the meeting at around 7:02 p.m.

Zephyrus to perform at OKANA

Tulsa, Oklahoma — Zephyrus Drum & Bugle Corps, Oklahoma’s only Drum Corps International (DCI) ensemble, will bring its signature energy, precision, and artistry to Oklahoma City on Saturday, July 4, as part of the Independence Day festivities at OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark.
