4 students awarded $2,500 scholarships at Pott County Premium Sale

Four annual $2,500 scholarships were handed out prior to the Premium Sale at the Pottawatomie CountyJunior Livestock Show.Suzanne Gilbert, PCJLSCommitteechairperson, explained the scholarships are made possible from the investments with the Community Foundation of Oklahoma.

Chandler alum makes WSU Dean’s Honor Roll

Jackie Haskell from Chandler was named to the Wichita State University Dean’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2024 semester.To make the honor roll, students must earn at least a 3.5-grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be full-time enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.

Stroud City Council accepts REAP grant

The Stroud City Council voted to accept a 2024-2025 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant to replace waterlines at the Service Plaza on Turner Turnpike and Briarwood Housing north of the plaza in its monthly meeting on Feb. 13.

Luther woman pleds no contest to felony child abuse

A Luther woman scheduled to go on trial this month for felony child abuse has entered a no contest plea and been handed a deferred term.Candice Elizabeth Bootenhoff, 39 at the time, was formally charged Oct. 31, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court with felony child abuse.

Chandler woman pleads guilty to several charges

A Chandler woman facing several felonies and misdemeanors following her arrest by law enforcement officers in 2023 and 2024 has entered guilty pleas to all the charges.Formal charges were originally filed Aug. 2, in Lincoln County District Court against Desmyn Cheyenne Hill, 30.

Chandler HS bowling team competes at state

The Chandler High School Boys Bowling team won their way to the state tournament in the Regional Tournament, held at Rt. 66 Bowl in Chandler on Feb. 15. They qualified for bracket play at the competition in Enid; however, they were eliminated by Elgin High School.

Agra man granted continuance in child sex abuse case

AnAgra man’s motion for continuance has been granted.John David Somers, Jr., 33, is facing two counts of child sexual abuse. He has entered an innocent plea and been set for the April docket.

Cushing man asks for non-jury trial

A Cushing man has waived a jury trial and asked for a non-jury trial on charges filed against him in January of 2024.Formal felony charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Jan. 24, 2024 against Eddie Gene Moore, 73.

Hearing contnued on porn charges

A preliminary hearing has been continued for a Chandler man who reportedly secured a job with Oklahoma Juvenile Affairs in Tecumseh and faces five felonies related to alleged crimes dealing with child pornography.

Chandler womn sentenced

A Chandler woman facing a felony and two misdemeanors has waived her preliminary hearing, pleaded guilty and been sentenced. A Chandler man facing the same charges, who has pleaded innocent, has waived a jury trial and asked for a bench trial.
