Congratulations to Stroud Chamber of Commerce and City of Stroud on a great Christmas parade. Everyone enjoyed the parade and gave it rave reviews. The Christmas spirit was definitely alive and well in Stroud. The Illuminated Elf theme was a huge success.

There was interesting national news last week. First, a Gallup Poll showed that almost twothirds of American adults believe that the Republican and Democrat parties do “such a poor job” of representing the American people that “a third major party is needed.

Years ago I had a friend from New Zealand who said that Thanksgiving was his favorite American holiday. I agree with him. It’s a day created for quiet reflection and gratitude for the things we have. Especially in today’s high-speed world, it’s good to decelerate and give thanks.

Thanksgiving is a great time of the year. My wife Pat and I always look forward to Turkey Day. Once again we are really excited because our family is getting together and that includes our daughter Meghan, her husband Terry and their son Liam, (our grandson).

Congratulations to Coach Josh Presley and the Stroud High School Tigers football team for another great win this past week against the Gore Pirates. The Tigers dominated the Pirates with a win of 54 to 6.

Veteran’s Day is this Saturday, November 11th. Please help the American Legion Auxiliary say thank you to our veterans and active military. The Auxiliary is hosting an Andrew Sisters tribute show this Saturday night at the American Legion building.

MIKE McCORMICK This Saturday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day where we have the chance to remember and observe those who have served in the military and those currently in our Armed Forces. The calendar on my cell phone indicates Veterans Day is observed on Friday, Nov. 10.
