Remembering snowballs

As I was watching the snow fall on Sunday, it took me back to when I was a kid growing up in the 50’s and 60s. My friends and I liked it when it snowed. We knew we’d get out of school for a day or two and we built snowmen, had friendly snowball fights.

1. Update on Glenn Crest Park A. Sam Killebrew with SandS Striping donated his skills and paint to stripe our new concrete parking lot. He also striped around the new flower beds and entrance sign. B.

Kudos to all you alums!!! Your response has been overwhelming to our Route 66 Mini-Golf Course, and it has exceeded our expectations! One should never underestimate a tiger, especially a Stroud Tiger!

Family guitars

I dragged out a guitar the other day and realized that it had been three or four years, at least, since the last time I had laid pick to strings. There haven’t been a lot of opportunities for picking and, when they have arisen, I’ve mostly worked out on the doghouse bass.

Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Prairie Pointe residents Margie Testerman and James Green, brother and sister, celebrated their birthdays Saturday. Family from Texas spent the weekend in Stroud and brought cake for the occasion. They also treated the “Birthday Kids” to dinner Saturday evening at Scotty B’s in Davenport.

Commissioners approve CDBG grant

The Lincoln County Commissioners during a special meeting last week, approved closing out the documents and finalizing a $150,000 CDBG grant for Jacktown Fire Department. Paul Simpson is Rural Fire Coordinator with the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District (COEDD).

Appreciating Man’s Best Friends

The other morning as I was sitting in my chair having coffee and finishing up some daily readings, I was watching our little pooch snooze away on her doggie pillow. She’s every bit of nine pounds and has been with us since we rescued her a number of years ago.

Can you believe it’s February? I can because love is in the air, love from our alums to their hometown. I have told you readers for several months that I wanted Town Talk to put a miniature golf course on Stroud’s Main Street – Route 66.
