3 candidates file for Carney special school board election

Three candidates have filed for an open school board seat in Carney, according to the Lincoln County Election Board.Jess Townsend, Connie Johnson and Rebecca Cranford have filed for Unexpired Term Seat #3. The election will take place on Aug. 25, along with run-off elections.

Wellston set for pre-4th bash

The town of Wellston will be holding its annual Fourth of July Kick-Start Celebration this Friday night.There will be vendors, inflatables, food trucks and a firework display. The festival is set to take place behind Wellston Elementary School.Gates will open at 6 p.m.

A morning out with a game warden

On a warm morning in rural Lincoln County, game warden Jacob Harriett walked a high-fence property with a small group, moving through grass, brush and overgrown foliage in search of deer.“The goal is to push any native animals out, so they don’t become trapped in the high fence,” Harriett said.

The Lincoln County Commissioners voted to subsidize payroll for the E911 Trust Authority at their regular meeting on June 22.The Commissioners entered into a joint meeting with two members of the TrustAuthority Board and discussed the budget shortfall.
