Mother’s Day

As most of you are aware, this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day. I firmly believe it’s a day to honor the women in our lives. The mothers, grandmothers and other women who do so much for us men and our children.

Thank you to everyone who has purchased veteran’s banners displayed on Main Street. We currently have eighty-seven banners honoring our veterans, both living and deceased and current service members. We have three new banners that will be going up soon.

Weather

Last Friday morning at 5 a.m. my wife Pat and I were awakened by our cell phones going off due to a tornado warning. At thesametime,ourhome’s alarm system went off with the tornado warning and within a minute or two Shawnee sounded its tornado warning sirens.

Wild hogs remain rampant throughout different portions of Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties and they are continuing to damage property in various areas.A better solution needs to be considered than is in place now.The hog problem isn’t new to either Lincoln or Pottawatomie County.

It’s been nine years now that I started trying to walk each day in hopes of getting more exercise. I usually try to walk around a mile, some days a little less, on some more.With my cell phone on my hip, it’s easy to keep track of the steps I’m taking and how far I go.
