To the editor: Since doing away with one voting day, we will never again have fair elections. Ballot counting going on for days and even weeks leaves too much room for adding or destroyingballots.

Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday night to help the American Legion Auxiliary and Town Talk honor our veterans and current military. Thank you, also, to BancFirst, First Bank & Trust and RCB Bank for generously supporting this event. We received great reviews on the evening.

Missed moments

All those special moments you can never experience again such as your high school graduation, the birth of your children, your wedding day, and countless others. They only come once in a lifetime. You think about all the good things that happened on those days.

Remembering a mother

A woman I haven’t spoken much about in this space is my mother who reared me from shortly after I turned six years old. As many of you are aware, my maternal mother passed away when I was 3½ years old. She died of acute leukemia.

My special friend and beloved Stroud plant guru Cathy Terry passed away unexpectedly this past week. When I heard Cathy had become ill and had been life flighted to a Tulsa hospital, I was very concerned but never expected to hear the news I received.

In search of keys

I was standing on the front porch Tuesday morning, flipping through my key ring in search of a key with a smear of pink fingernail polish. It’s the key to the front door and should have been right there, next to my pickup key, but no. It wasn’t.

Nelson is the best choice

The grass was too tall for Tillie so she kept tripping on our walk. I eventually turned around, picked her up and we followed behind you and Charlee. Once we got to that rickety playhouse, I watched as you helped Charlee climb the ladder and down the slide she went.
