Stroud scored 40 points in the first quarter en route to a 59-0 win over Wewoka Friday night in Stroud. The game clinched the District A-6 championship with the win and will host a first-round game in the playoffs.

Davenport football coach John Greenfield described his team’s 49-0 loss to Wetumka last week as a “game of errors.” “The very first snap on offense we fumbled and they scooped it up and scored,” Greenfield said.

Chandler’s path to a district championship took a detour Friday night, as Jones came to town and left with a 57-28 victory. The win left Jones atop District 2A-2 with a 5-0 record and Chandler in second at 4-1.

Stroud’s Tigers scored on their first two offensive plays, led 30-0 with just over six minutes gone in the game and hung half a hundred on Mounds in the first two quarters Thursday night. It was a continuation of the Tigers’ domination of District A-6.

Eventual state champion Newcastle came from behind with two late-inning home runs and eliminated North Rock Creek, 5-4, in the Class 4A state semifinals last week. North Rock Creek beat Weatherford, 2-0, in the first round and led Newcastle until the sixth inning.
