Chandler, Stroud, Prague at home for first round
After 11 weeks of regular season play, the playoff picture has snapped into focus for the area football teams.
Six of the seven football-playing schools in the area made the playoffs, with Chandler, Stroud and Prague having first-round games at home. North Rock Creek made the playoffs for the first time in its short history and will go on the road, as will Meeker and Davenport.
The Lions, 8-2 after dispatching Luther Friday night, finished second in District 2A-2 and will host the Alva Gold Bugs (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday.
Stroud, 8-2 and champions of District A-6, will host Morrison (5-5). Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Jack Poskey Stadium.
Prague finished with a perfect 10-0 record and won District 2A-5. The Red Devils will host Spiro (6-4) Friday in the first round.
Meeker (6-4) finished third in District 2A-2 and will go to Oklahoma Christian School (9--1).
North Rock Creek’s Cougars (5-5) finished fourth in District 3A-1 and will play their firstever playoff game at Heritage Hall (10-0) Friday.
Davenport 2-8) finished fourth in District B-8 and will go to Drumright (10-0) to face the Tornadoes.
The games are the day after Veterans Day, and the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association is offering free admission for all veterans, active duty military and reserve or National Guard members plus one guest. Veterans and service members need only show their ID at the gate.
