As I was thinking about what to write for my column this week, I got to visiting with my wife Pat and she mentioned a topic that was timely. That was volunteerism.

TheStroudArcheryTournament was held from Dec. 4 through 6 at the Route 66 Coliseum with around 30 schools participating, including Stroud, Chandler, North Rock Creek, Meeker andPrague.Thetournament was open to students from elementary school up to high school.

Lincoln County graduates from UCO

The University of Central Oklahoma announced its Fall 2025 graduates. A total of 1,068 students will take part in the fall commencement. The ceremony will take place on Dec. 12 to 13 at the Hamilton Field House.

Bad news ticks hiding in the cedars

It started with pizza.Jeff Hulsey, who grew up in Chandler and now lives in Choctaw, said he would eat pizza and then a few hours later, he would get severely sick. Then, he was sick for two weeks straight between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Bethany Descher and Nicholas Linn have been selected as Rotarians of the Month for December by the Chandler Rotary Club.Bethany Descher is the daughter of Kryste Nguyen, Nick Dargel, Tony Nguyen, and Matthew Descher. She has a GPA of 3.75 and an ACT score of 25.

Lincoln County commissioners

Lincoln County commissioners this week opened six month bids on various items, then voted to table action until their meeting on Dec. 19.They adopted a resolution accepting a $5,000 donation from Randy Bowen for the Sheriff’s Office.
