Fifty-five years ago today, Dec. 4, is a day that will be lodged in my mind forever. It’s the day I arrived at Fort Polk, La., to begin basic training for the 95th Division Army Reserve unit in Shawnee.I had signed up for a six-year stint in the Reserve unit on March 7 of that year.

Psi Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi honored long time member, Davina Hodge McGee with the Order of the Rose which recognizes members for their years of service and dedication to the aims and ideals of the organization.

Dale Board of Education members this week rehired School Supt. Will Jones and approved stipends for staff.After spending some time in executive session, board members returned to open meeting. Board member Robin Wiley Greene said the board hired Jones back and extended his contract for another year.

Demos to meet

The next meeting of the Lincoln County Democratic Party will be Thursday December 11 at the Chandler Public Library. The meeting will start at 6:00PM; doors open and refreshments at 5:30. Our guest speaker will be Dr Kelly Forbes, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Dena Jo Bromley announced today that the Paden School District has opted to close Precinct 22 in Okfuskee County for the Board of Education Primary Election scheduled for February 10th.

Chandler High School’s chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders Leaders of America donated supplies to Citizens Caring for Children. CCC is a nonprofit organization that help provide clothing essentials for children in foster care.

The team defeated the Freshmen in its first game and made it all the way to the final game against the Juniors.
