Driver rescued from manhole on turnpike

The Chandler and Wellson Fire Departments responded to Turner Turnpike to help rescue a motorist on Friday night.A press release from Wellston Fire Chief Todd Beesley said a motorist exited his vehicle at mile marker 160 westbound and fell about 30 to 40 feet into a drainage area.

Sparks scholarships

Three Chandler seniors received scholarships from Sparks America. Landon Harkins, Lexi Martzall and Hannah Campbell were each awarded a $6,000 scholarship “We were proud of these youngsters as they take their passions and dreams and move forward with their lives,” Sparks America said.

Two area schools took part in the 3rd Annual Native American Student Association (NASA) Games on Oct. 14, bringing home second and third place. Chandler High School placed second and Meeker High School placed third.“It was so much fun.

In some ways, Landon Gray shouldn’t be here.In October 2016, at the age of eight, he suffered constant strokes and was diagnosed with a rare condition -- central nervous system vasculitis.According to the Vasculitis Foundation, it affects 2.4 cases per 1 million people every year.

Eight felonies filed

A Harrah man faces eight felonies, several of which are related to pornography and child abuse material involving juveniles.Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Oct. 28, 2025 against Jerod Arthur Deatherage, 37.
