Meeker Board of Education members this week approved temporary appropriations for the 20242025 school year and a new Office No. 4 board member was administered the oath of office.

Jason Hessman, who won last week’s Meeker school election, was administered the oath of office and began his five-year term on the board during Monday’s meeting.

The board voted to keep it’s same alignment as the past year with Lindell Standlee as president, Bret Wood vice president, Josh Elliott as clerk and Stacie Miller and Hessman board members.

School Supt. Jeff Pruitt presented the temporary appropriations for 2024-2025 to the board which were approved. They include General Fund $10,748,937, Building Fund, $180,044 and Child Nutrition $412,521.

Without going into executive session, the board members hired Justin Boone as a second Agricultural Education teacher. Boone has about 18 years experience teaching Vo-Ag, Pruitt said, having taught at Wanette for a number of years and this year has been teaching at Wellston.

The board members also accepted the resignation of Misty Mader, Middle School teacher and Samantha Turner, Elementary School paraprofessional.

The board approved a contract with Central Oklahoma School Pictures for the 2024-2025 school year.

High School Principal Brad Buxton in his report advised board members enrollment has stayed the same as last month at 234. He told them ACT testing for juniors was taking place on April 9 this week, the junior/senior high school Prom is April 19 and Baccalaureate is May 5.
