Do you have someone you’d like to honor with a veteran’s banner that will be hung on Stroud’s Main Street? Town Talk has sold one side of a banner but is looking for someone to purchase the other side. The honored person can be a living or deceased veteran or a currently enlisted service member or reservist. They do not have to be a resident or former resident of Stroud or a Stroud graduate. We have around one hundred veterans currently honored on our Main Street. The one-time cost of one side of the banner is $125. Contact me, Diana Smalley Reed, at 918-527-9833 if you are interested. You may purchase a banner at any time but we need at least one now so we can complete the banner and get it hung.
Dwight Riley passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Dwight was a 1972 graduate of Davenport High School. Dwight was married to one of my high school friends, Kathy Teters, for fifty years and I always thought of him as a Stroud “guy.” They lived in Stroud for many years before moving to Bristow. He was well liked and had many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Town Talk offers its condolences to the Riley family.

I don’t have the details yet, but I did notice the gift shop previously known as Mamie’s which is next to the Rock Café has a new sign. It is now called “Curios.” It’s a great sign that looks like signage used in the movie “Cars.” I’ll try to get by there this week and get you all the scoop. Stay tuned for more information.
Julie Bivin told me she needed two items this past week and checked to see if she could get them locally. They were not available, so she had to order them. That’s what our merchants like to hear though – that people “shop local” first. Thank you to all who continue to adopt that philosophy and thank you for continuing to shop local…………..first!
