Chandler’s cheerleaders went old school for the Lions’ game on Thursday with Crossings Christian. They pulled out uniforms from previous years, with some from as far back as the 1980s.

Photography awards to Lincoln County News

The Lincoln County News won two first-place photography awards at the Society of Professional Journalists annual contest. The awards were announced at the SPJ’s banquet in Lawton Saturday night. Editor Brian Blansett won the first place award for the best sports photo of 2021.

Trial continued in Carney man’s trial

A Carney man has been granted another continuance in his jury trial on a total of 13 charges. Bobby Lloyd Johnston, 64, was arrested on Jan. 11 this year as officers served a warrant at 820575 S. 3330 Road in Lincoln County. Originally, he was charged with three felonies and four misdemeanors.

Hearing set in child endangerment

A pre-preliminary hearing has been set for one of two men facing child endangerment and drug-related charges following their arrest recently by Lincoln County deputies in the parking lot of a store at U.S. 177 and U.S. 62.
Dilynn Schafer from Chandler has qualified to compete in the Vegas Tuffest Jr. World Championship this December. She will be one of 840 contestants from 28 different states and four Canadian provinces December 1-5 at the Mike and Sherrylynn Johnson Vegas Tuffest Jr. World Championship, which is held the first weekend of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Organizers say the champion will win between $10,000 and $30,000 with winners taking home saddles, buckles, rings and other prizes.

Crossings 16, Lions 6

Chandler’s season took an unexpected detour Thursday night, as Crossings Christian upended the Lions, 16-6. The Knights were 1-2 in the district, but took a 7-0 lead just after halftime and never trailed.

Trial continued in manslaughter

The jury trial for an Ada woman facing a first degree manslaughter charge in a fatal traffic collision that killed a Prague man nearly two years ago has been continued again. Formal manslaughter charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Apr.

Davenport rolls, faces Weleetka in showdown

Davenport’s Bulldogs won their second district game of the season last week, knocking off the Summit Christian Eagles 32-12 on the road. They stay on the road again this week traveling to once-beaten Weleetka for a Friday night contest.

Stroud takes over first place in A6

Stroud put a 54-6 whipping on Konawa Thursday night. That win combined with Hartshorne’s 38-7 upset of Mounds left the Tigers alone atop District 7A. They are 4-0 in the district, while Hartshorne, Mounds and Allen are all 3-1.
