Arthur Phelan of Stroud was born March 31, 1948, in Muldrow, Okla., and died Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Stroud. He was 72 years old.
Phelan, the son of Henry and Nettie (Crowley) Phelan, married Lillie Ann (Hobbs) Howard on October 3, 1968.
He had a career in the United States Army and Army National Guard.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Ed Phelan, Bill Phelan and Paul Jennings; his sister Roberta Pulliam; two sons, Leonard Howard and Jerry Howard; and one granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife Lillie Ann Phelan of the home; his children and their spouses, Kathy and Terry Holland of Meeker, Elaine Bowser of Stroud, Patricia and Steve Griffin of Prague, Arthur “Bo” and Treva Phelan of Stroud; 12 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; three brothers, Leroy Phelan, Jerry Mercer and Gary Mercer, all of Oklahoma City; and other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 23, 2020, with Keith Cole officiating in the chapel of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, which handled the final arrangements.
