Chandler board approves appropriations

The Chandler Board of Education this week approved its temporary appropriations for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, accepted the resignation of a long time teacher and also hired an instructor.

The board also rehired all of its support staff, School Supt. Melody Toma advised.

Toma explained the temporary appropriations include $8,013,000 in the General Fund, $758,400 in the building fund and $408,800 in child nutrition.

The board accepted the resignation of Debbie Terronez, high school Business Education teacher. Toma said Terronez has taught for 35 years and 31 of those years have been in the Chandler School System.

Board members employed Michelle Underwood as the district’s new high school Business Education teacher. “We were lucky to get her,” Toma noted, “because they are hard to find.”

Support staff hired include: Kayla Ainsworth, James Allen, Violet Boggs, Candice Brewer, Tonya Clagg, Tracee Cobb, Amanda Cross, Kristy Cunningham, Anna Ellison, James Farrow, DeDe Fent, Teresa Fick

And Sarah Gross, Sage Higdon, Brenda Hitchcock, Walter Hughey, Jill Lambert, Nicole Lawrence, Lee Roy Milburn, Mary Mitchell, Whitney Messer, Lori Molloy, Haley Mooy, Donna Price.

And Amanda Raper, Kelly Robinson, Amy Sanchez, Karis Schvetto, Brittani Smith, Shannon Smith, Shelby Smith, Niki Steeley, Angie Tait and Natalie Ussrey.

In other business, the board: Approved the “Return to Learn 2.0 Plan” for the 2021-2022 school year.

Renewed its agreement with the Oklahoma Public School Resource Center for the 2021-2022 school year.

Adopted the resolution for the Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for the 2021-2022 school year, authorizing the payment of the applicant’s share upon approval of funding and receipt of services.

Discussed and Toma assured the board they were in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) for FY 2022.

Approved the proposal for worker’s compensation insurance as presented by Tedford and Associates for the 2021-2022 school year.

Accepted the bid for contracted food service for the Chandler Public School’s Child Nutrition program with OPPA Food Management, Inc.

Approved the agreement for representation between Chandler Public Schools and its board of education and Rosenstein, Fist and Ringold for legal services.

Approved the contract with the Department of Rehabilitative Services for the 2021-2022 school year.

Approved the first year of a three-year lease agreement between Ross Transportation and Chandler Public Schools for the 2021-2022 school year.

Voted to approve the contract with Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Testing, LLC for testing of bus drivers for the 2021-2022 school term.

Approved the remaining seven months of the fiveyear lease-purchase of the copying machines for the FY 2021-2022 as required under the provisions of that agreement dated Jan. 6, 2017 between the district and DeLage Landen Public Finance, LLC.

Approved the updates to the policy for FNG-Wireless Telecommunication Devices to update the policy 626 Wireless Telecommunication Devices.

Voted to add the “Class of 2023” to the list of sub accounts in the activity fund for 2021-2022.

Authorized Toma to act as the district’s director of federal programs beginning July 1, 2021.

Voted to surplus library books and miscellaneous items at Park Road Library.

Voted to surplus high school library books and text books.

Approved open transfer requests.
