Chandler racked up 524 yards of total offense and put up 47 points in the middle two periods Friday night against Meeker. The result was a 54-19 victory that sent the Lions into the third round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Davenport wins, faces Summit Christian next

Davenport’s Bulldogs held off Garber, 42-34, Friday night to advance to the third round of the playoffs. The Bulldogs head to Summit Christian Friday to face the Eagles at 7 p.m.

Stroud’s Morris signs with Ottawa College

Surrounded by her parents and coaches, Stroud senior Macey Morris signs a letter of intent to play softball for Ottawa College in Kansas. The Lady Tigers’ second baseman, Morris took the team to back-to-back appearances in the fastpitch state tournament and to the 66 Conference championship.

Meeker All-Staters

Grandma Blansett used to have a red-and-white Coleman water jug on the top shelf of her kitchen cabinet. This was a nice jug, probably a twogallon model with a wide lid that screwed into the top and a spigot at the bottom.

Playoffs: Round 2

It was just four weeks ago that a short-handed Meeker team came to Chandler and got handled, 30-0. The game was a low point in the season for the Bulldogs. After dealing with outbreaks of COVID-19, having players quarantined and enduring days when they had trouble scraping up enough players to practice, they took their third loss in four games.

New record

Stroud falls at Colcord

Stroud got out to a 14-0 lead in the first half, but fell to Colcord in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Blake Parrick hit Dylan Collins on a 6-yard scoring pass early in the second quarter, putting Stroud up 6-0, and found him again just before halftime for a 14-yard touchdown.

Lions pound Alva

Chandler dominated its first-round playoff game against Alva Friday night, building a 21-6 lead in the first quarter and winning, 49-19. It was a night in which the Lions controlled the game from the opening kickoff and played most of it on Alva’s end of the field, thanks to stellar special team play.
