Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Easter was a grand day at Prairie Pointe. Joe Bill Shelhope, Lynn and Jon Taylor, the interim pastor and his wife, came from First Christian Church for our church services. Bro. Taylor read from Luke 24 and assured us that regardless of the predicament we find ourselves, we are never alone if we have Christ as our savior.

Rachel Handley had her daughter and family visiting her. Tillie Absher’s daughter and son-in-law had lunch with her. Lyn Martin was here to visit her dad Wirt, and she led us in singing. Our staff provided a delicious dinner and pretty Easter decorations and goodies. E. Bunny had a special basket of assorted cookies delivered to Prairie Pointe and they were part of the treats.

The previous Sunday, Bro. James Bond, Mason McCormick, and Carson Wright from First Baptist Church came to lead our Palm Sunday service. Mason played guitar and led in the song session; Carson played mandolin. Bro. James read from Deuteronomy 32 and explained three of God’s attributes—holiness, justice, wrath—that lead up to Easter Sunday.

Bret Graham was in town for a visit recently and performed in concert one evening as well as during several meals. Maggie Neu joined in on “Mama sang tenor” during his rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Daddy Sang Bass.” We always enjoy it so much when Bret is here and it had been way too long.

New resident Paul Taylor flew to his daughter’s in Atlanta, Georgia last week to attend a grandson’s wedding. He will be gone two weeks. He was very excited and happy about being able to travel to this event.

Gifted songwriter and musician Danny Miller of Meeker entertained the supper crowd at Prairie Pointe last Friday. Danny always brings good music and good fun.
