This is the Sixty-Nineth article in a semi-permanent column for Stroud Arts that appears in the Stroud American. The mission of these articles is to inform, educate and inspire you, the reader, to Make Art Happen in your life and the life of our community.
A lot can happen in the life of an individual or an organization within a short span of time.
For Stroud Arts, May 1 was our first live event since the Pandemic hit in March 2021.
The Stroud Arts Murder Mystery was a sold-out event and we then shifted our focus to our May 15 Event ‘The Great Stroud Race.’
This event was to be similar to the ‘Amazing Race’ tv show in that contestants would race, on foot, around Stroud solving clues and physical challenges that would lead them ultimately to the Finish Line and a Cash Prize.
Unfortunately, even with the event being promoted on Facebook for the last few months and this newspaper in previous columns, we have to postpone the ‘Great Stroud Race’ due to a lack of contestants registering for the event at this time.
As a community arts organization, the members of the Stroud Arts Board strive to find events and activities that will appeal to many members of our communities.
We know that not all events will be of interest to all people and that is why we try to offer a variety of programming ranging from Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre to Art Classes for Kids and Adults to Tabletop Gaming, Haunted Houses and Escape Rooms to Radio Drama and Podcasts to Film Competitions, from Children’s Theatre to Dulcimer Creation and Playing Classes.
As an Arts Organization with a broad focus, we can be flexible in what programming we offer and thereby reinforce the activities our community responds positively to while removing the items that our community is not interested in pursuing.
Which brings us to the Next Event Stroud Arts will be participating in, ‘Stroud Summer Fest 2021’!
This event will be held on Saturday, June 12 from 10am to 5pm and held on Stroud Main Street or as it is better known, Route 66.
This event will combine: Stroud Chamber of Commerce with their Wine Festival and Car Show and the Stroud Fire Department with their Firetruck Muster-Fire Departments from across the state compete in Firetruck games and activities, and Stroud Arts providing a Kids Zone and First Ever Spray Paint Mural Competition-where the winner will receive a wall space to paint a permanent mural in downtown Stroud.
On June, 12, Downtown Stroud is the place to be with food, fun and something for all ages!
I will provide more information next week but until then … Make Art Happen!
