Slight jump in local COVID cases

The number of deaths and new cases in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped a little in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

Since March 24, there have been two more deaths in Pottawatomie County and none in Lincoln County.

The OSDH recently began reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily. The agency has stated the reason is because of the decline in COVID-19 cases recently.

The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from March 31 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, April 6.

There now have been 86 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19. That number compares to 84 a week ago.

Lincoln County has 58 reported deaths, no change from the last reporting.

The number of positive cases has risen a little in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, OSDH figures show.

The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County jumped by 58 and in Lincoln County they increased by 23, according to figures provided by the OSDH.

The OSDH reports that 3,400,547 people have tested negative.
