Agra man charged with possession of child porn

An Agra man previously convicted of two felony counts related to crimes against a minor faces a new charge also related to a minor.

A formal charge was filed in Lincoln County District on March 6, 2025 against Zachary TaylorWatkins, 34. He is charged with possession of child pornography.

Special Judge Emily Mueller on Feb. 20, 2025 set his bond at $100,000. As a condition of the bond Watkins is to have no contact with any persons under 18, he may not use or possess any Internet device and must follow all rules of a sex offender.

Watkins made his initial appearance on March 6 and attended a pre-preliminary hearing on March 13 that has been continued to 9 a.m. March 27.

The charge against Watkins accuses him on Jan. 10, 2024 of committing the crime of possession of child pornography by possessing videos and/orimagesofchildren under the age of 18 engaged in sexual conduct in Lincoln County.

Supplemental information filed in the case by Assistant District Attorney Lori McConnell shows that on March 10, 2015 in Lincoln County District Court Watkins was convicted of two felony counts. Count 1 was lewd acts with a child and count 2 was soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology.

That case was actually filed on Nov. 21, 2013 in Lincoln County District Court.

Court records show that as the result of a plea bargain Watkins withdrew a plea of not guilty on both counts and entered pleas of guilty on both charges.

On count 1, he was sentenced to 13 years in the Department of Corrections with all the time suspended except the first three years along with fines and costs. On count2,hewassentenced to 10 years in the custody of DOC with all time suspended except the first 3 years, along with fines and costs with the sentences to run concurrent with each other.

Watkinswasadvisedof the Mandatory Sex Offender Registry. He was placed on Supervised probation upon release from DOC custody and ordered not to have any contact with the victim. He was advised to report to the probation officer and to register on the Sex Offender Registry with DOC and local law enforcement within three days of release from custody.

He was told to report to the Court Clerk’s Cost Administrator with 10 days of release from custody.

Court records further show that on March 10, 2025 a motion was filed to revoke the suspended sentence and a $25,000 benchwarrantwasissued for his arrest.

On March 13, 2025 Watkins appeared before Judge Mueller on the state’s motion to revoke. The judge has continued that until 9 a.m. March 27 and has ordered that to trail the current charge against Watkins.
