The Chandler High School drama troupe is working to fulfill their dream of representing Oklahoma at the International Thespian Festival in Bloomington, Ill., this summer.
The group won the opportunity at the Oklahoma Thespian One Act Festival in September, when they performed “In Darkness, Audio Flowers Bloom.” Chandler beat out five other schools, including those in 5A and 6A.
However, getting the chance to compete is only the first part. The troupe needs to raise about $25,000 in order to transport the entire cast, crew and set to Illinois for the festival set for June 21-26. They are currently running fundraisers and asking the community for help.
On May 4, the troupe is hosting the Lightsaber Strike Bowling Tournament at Rt. 66 Bowl in Chandler. Businesses can sponsor a lane for $100 and it’s $200 for a four-person team.Thetournamentkicks off at 6:30 p.m. For more information about signing up or sponsorship, contact Rachel Moehle at 405-8806637 or Inda Jo Conway at 405-258-2790.
Donations can also be made through Venmo (@ CAST-TheatreBooster) or CashApp ($LionTheatre). If donating to a specific student, be sure to include their name in the note. The troupe is also accepting checks made to C.A.S.T.
