The Chandler School Board made several decisions on personnel and adopted new or updated policies at its regular meeting on July 13 as the district gears up for the new school year.
The Board accepted the resignation of Franklin Ward (wrestling coach and secondary teacher), WhitneyAllen (elementary special education teacher), AshleyWeaver (HS special education teacher), Shelby Lavendusky (Park Road teacher), Savannah Goodgion (East Side aide), Kass Jones (paraprofessional) and Lauren Tate (kindergarten aide). On the other hand, the Board approved the hiring of Wyatt Sheets as the new wrestling coach/teacher, a new junior high STEM teacher, a high school special education English teacher, Andres Labastida as the new junior high/ high school choir director, a fifth and sixth grade special education teacher, an East Side pre-k teacher, an East Side elementary counselor and a school nurse.
TheBoardapprovednew policies on the processes for employee complaint resolution and student and parent complaint resolution. Superintendent Grant Moore said these put the framework for the complaint process into policy. The Board also adopted a revised attendance policy. The revised policy states a specific number of days that students can miss rather than a percentage. Other revised policies include one on investigation procedures for bullying and regulations on prohibiting bullying.
Many of the revisions or changes were to better align with state laws.
Six booster clubs had their applications for sanction approved as well: Chandler Ag Boosters, Chandler Baseball Boosters, C.A.S.T. Drama Boosters, CHS/CJHS POM Boosters, Chandler Lions Quarterback Club and Chandler Wrestling Boosters.
The School Board renewed or approved a number of contracts and agreements for the 2026-27 school year. This included one with Kellogg & Sovereign Consulting, LLC, for E-Rate management services, Midwest Sporting Goods for athletic equipment and sports apparel and Crossroads Youth and Family Services Co-op Head Start.
The Board approved Superintendent Moore to act as the Chandler School District purchasing agent for the next school year and the district agent for food commodities, national school lunch and milk programs, and the filing of all other records as required by the U.S. Department of Education.
A memorandum of understanding with the Lincoln County Partnership for Child Well Being was also approved, as was a request to deregulate library staffing at East Side, Park Road and the secondary libraries.
Encumbrances for 12-month employees and summer help were approved, as was the extra duty schedule for the next school year.
The Board also approved an out-of-state trip for the high school pom team to attend the UDA National Dance Competition in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 20 to Feb. 1, 2027.
