CMA receives $5 million loan

The Chandler Municipal Authority has received approval for a $5 million Financial Assistance Program (FAP) loan from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) for the water treatment plant expansion, according to a press release from OWRB.

The CMA approved moving forward with the loan program at its regular meeting on Sept. 9.

The current public water system serves more than 1,300 customers and includes a treatment plant, distribution network and three storage tanks. It was built in 1999 and needs upgrades to meet current standards and maintain compliance, according to the OWRB release. The project, which was awarded to Orr Construction on Sept. 9 and estimated to cost around $16 million, will replace outdated treatment units, filters, pumps and controls. It will also upgrade the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. This allows operators to remotely monitor and manage operations.

The FAP loan is not to exceed $5 million and was requested to cover cost overruns estimated at around $3.7 million, the press release said.
