The Davenport Bulldogs put it all together and pounded the Olive Wildcats 47-0 in a contest on the road that was over by halftime.
The win improved the Bulldogs’ record to 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in district.
Coach John Greenfield said, “We finally got it all together. It’s finally a happy day after. The kids played really well.”
Next up is Waukomis in the final home game of the regular season for the Bulldogs.
Greenfield said it’s senior night and kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
“We had only one turnover,” the coach noted. “We got our reserves in and they scored the final points just before halftime.”
The veteran Hall of Fame coach pointed out, “We were able to sustain some drives and score. We were able to spread the ball around to different receivers and we made very few mistakes.
“Our kids blocked well and they tackled well. It was an all-around good effort,” he believes.
Sophomore Brody Robinson carried the ball 10 times, gaining 96 yards and scoring three rushing touchdowns. He also had seven solo tackles on defense, causing two fumbles.
Freshman quarterback Chase Mitchell completed 10 of 13 passes for 162 yards through the air including a touchdown. He also ran for 36 yards on four carries, scoring two rushing TD’s as well.
Mark Mascho kicked five of his six extra point attempts. Mascho also caught two passes for 57 yards and a TD.
Lakin Durbin had an interception for an eight yard return, caught one pass for a TD and Aydan Stancell had a total of six tackles and two passes defended.
Reece Murfin recovered a fumble and Ivan Morris had three passes defended.
Brennan Stokes threw a TD pass and Tyler Gilkison had four solo tackles and three assists for a total of seven.
